Two decades ago when I spent a semester at a music college in Manila studying voice and classical guitar, I had to immerse myself in classical music. Friday nights, a group of students would go to Paco Park to watch musicians perform chamber music. Rainy nights had crowds inside the small chapel, and if the weather was good, we were outside on the grounds. It was glorious. I never did get to watch an orchestra though so it’s on my wish list. (And neither did I get a degree in music.) Hopefully before 2011 ends, Kyera and I will get to go to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. And maybe someday, the Nashville Symphony will do something like this.
