The stage is starting to grow on us. The backdrops complement the dances. Great touch!
Nigel kicked things off announcing that Fox and Dick Clark Productions agreed that Billy Bell could return next season and go straight to Vegas while Filipino Brandon Dumlao can reapply. I’m pretty sure Julliard student Billy will make it into the Esteemed 20. As for Brandon, he has time to grow as a dancer who will hopefully be a force to reckon with.
I wasn’t too impressed with Russell and Noelle’s opening routine. The choreography — tennis match meets Matrix-esque moves — was clever but I had a bad feeling about Noelle.
The two numbers that stood out for me tonight were Mollee and Nathan dancing Nakul Dev Mahajan’s Bollywood routine (Nathan was my favorite) and Kevin and Karen in a NappyTab Hiphop number (Karen was my favorite).
Legacy continues to carve a favorite spot in my heart. He danced beautifully with Kathryn in a Stacy Tookey number that reminded me a little too much of Mia Michaels’ Addiction routine last season with Kupono and Kayla. The judges unanimously saw his quick growth in such a short time.
Wade Robison’s routines are always a treat. Mary Murphy doesn’t seem to get him though. She never seems to have anything good to say about his dances. Filipina Pauline and tap dancer Peter were very convincing as characters in Van Gogh’s Starry Night who were removed from the famous painting and mischievously altered it. (You had to be there have seen it. . . )
When it came down to picking tonight’s Bottom Four, the producer in me guessed right that it would be Noelle, Philip, Victor, and Bianca. I also guessed right that Philip and Bianca would leave. (The offspring always rolls her eyes at my predictions. I get to gloat eight out of ten times.) Cat Deeley struggled to hold back her tears as Philip shared after his farewell video how his father passed away more than a week ago. Except for this emotional moment, the overall episode didn’t have much of a WOW factor. No Brandon and Janette-like fireworks yet. And no music this evening that had me scrambling through a Google search.
Tonight was the judges’ last night to eliminate contestants. Next week, their fate is in the viewers’ hands.

[...] be the choreographers? So many new names to the show. Stacy Tookey’s routine looks like her routine last week: needy couple/needy woman/ needy man and its variations again. But it’s only the third week [...]
